Guide

What an invoice must include in Spain

Under Spain's invoicing regulations, a full invoice must include: number and, where applicable, series; issue date; name, tax ID and address of both issuer and client; description of the goods or services; taxable base; VAT rate and amount; and the total.

If you apply IRPF withholding, the percentage and amount withheld must also appear. If the transaction is VAT-exempt, state the reason.

Invoice numbering

Numbering must be sequential within each series, with no gaps. Starting a new series each year is common: 2026-001, 2026-002… Corrective invoices go in a separate series.

Veri*factu and e-invoicing

Spain's Veri*factu regulation requires invoicing software to meet certain technical requirements and, where applicable, send records to the tax agency. This tool is for creating an occasional PDF invoice; if you invoice regularly, ask your accountant which software you need to comply.

How it works

  1. Fill in your details and your client's.
  2. Add the items, VAT and, if applicable, withholding.
  3. Download the invoice as PDF.

Frequently asked questions

What must an invoice include in Spain?

Number and date, name and tax ID of issuer and client, addresses, a description of the services or products, taxable base, VAT rate and amount, and the total. If you apply IRPF withholding, its rate and amount too.

When do I apply IRPF withholding?

Usually when you're a self-employed professional in Spain invoicing a business or another professional. The general rate is 15% and the reduced rate for new freelancers is 7%. Check with your adviser if in doubt.

Is it Verifactu compliant?

No. This tool creates the PDF document, but it isn't an approved invoicing system. If you're required to use software adapted to Spain's invoicing systems regulation (Verifactu), you need certified software.

Do you store my invoices or data?

No. The invoice is created in your browser. Only your issuer details, logo and payment method are saved in this same browser, to save you typing them again.

Do you do this every day?

If you merge documents, prepare invoices or copy data between programs every day, that can be automated, and it's what we do.
